Bodhgaya Tour- A Journey Of Enlightenment

Bodhgaya is a sacred place where people come from across the globe to see the tree where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Cocooned in peaceful aura, this place is one of the most important pilgrimage sites of Buddhists. People from different religious backgrounds come here in search of enlightenment.

Bodhgaya is one of the most famous Buddhist pilgrimages where people come in search of enlightenment. Synonymous with Lord Buddha, this spiritual place attracts tourists from across the globe. Lord Buddha attained enlightenment in Bodhgaya under a Bodhi tree in the 6th century. This place is steeped in peace and beauty. This wonderful place is located in Gaya district in the state of Bihar.

Main attractions of Bodhgaya:

The Bodhi Tree
This is the sacred tree under which Lord Buddha meditated and attained nirvana. Pilgrims take back home the leaves of this Bodhi tree as blessings of the lord. It is said that a sapling of the original Bodhi tree was taken from here to Srilank and the Bhodi tree is still present there.

Mahabodhi Temple
It is a beautiful temple built in the 3rd century at the very spot where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Asoka was an ardent devotee of Lord Buddha and it is he who built this temple in lord's honor. There is a huge and beautiful idol of the Lord inside this shrine.

The Great Buddha Statue
It is a beautiful statue of lord Buddha in a mediating posture. It is made of red granite and sandstone. The completion of the statue took around seven years.

Dungeshwari Caves
Located 12 km from Bodhgaya are the Dungeshwari Caves. Once Lord Buddha used to live in one of these caves. The caves depict wonderful statues, stone carvings, paintings of the Lord.

Bodhi Sarovar
Visit this sacred pond where Lord Buddha bathed before meditating. It is near the Mahabodhi temple.

Also visit the bustling bazaars where you will find wonderful handicrafts such as ornaments, religious books, Buddhist paintings etc.
