Gauri Shankar (Dolakha) Rolwaling Region |
|
The
Rolwaling valley lies close to the Tibetan border to the
east of Everest. The trek is especially beautiful and
varied we visit many Hindus Brahmin villages before
entering the hidden valley of Rolwaling. Along the trail
should see plenty of wildlife including langur monkeys and
small herds of the thar, a deer- like animal legends
concerning the Yeti and the Rolwaling are
numerous so keep your eyes open! It is steep-sided valley
locked on by astonishingly- beautiful fluted ice peaks on
every side.on of the highest of these is 23,400ft/7,132m (Gauri
Shankar). After rest day in Sherpa village in bedding with
its Ochre painted Monastery and unusually large stupa we
head back on a different route taking us to Bigu Gompa.
This is one of the largest and least visited Buddhist
nunneries in Nepal. |
